Cinder Cones

These pictures show a small cinder cone that we noticed on a distant hillside. Gary took 3 shots, each at a different zoom level so that you would get an idea what the top of Sunset Crater must look like. The actual distance from the cone to where we were standing was probably about a mile. It is amazing that the volcanic activity in this area took place about 800 years ago and the cinders still look like they were piled up there a few weeks ago.
